St. Anthony of Padua (Panjora Shrine)

The present chapel at the Shrine of St. Anthony at Panjora was built in 1906. It is recognized as the national shrine in Bangladesh. Since the weather in the country does not favour for big gathering of people during the actual feast day (June 13), every year the Feastday and Pilgrimage to the shrine are observed on the First Friday of February. 9 days of preparation (Novena Masses and confession) with the presence of thousands occur ahead of the feast.

Open Hours
Everyday from 6:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Times of Liturgical Celebrations
Holy Mass on on Sunday : 6:30 am, 8:30 am, and 10:30 am, on Weekdays : 6:30 am; and on Saturday : 6:30 am, 5:00 pm

Holy Hour/Adoration : Every Thursday at 4:30 pm

Hours for Confession
Confession everyday from 6:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Other Information
The land used for pilgrimage was donated by some pious lady named Catherine around 1785-90 to the Augustinian Missionaries. This Holy Shrine is recognized nationally from year 2000. Approximately 80,000 Catholics and thousands of people following other churches or faith gather in the Shrine during the Pilgrimage day. Besides hundreds of people come to pray at the Chapel all through the year.
